With the announcement for the next StrikeForce event going down on November 7, on CBS some more news has made the headlines this Thursday evening as current middleweight champion/movie star Cung Le has decided to take on yet another movie role and has relinquished the title. So, what will happen now you ask? Well it now appears that the rumored Jake Shields vs Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller bout is back on as the two will now fight for the right to become the promotion’s new 185 pound champion for the November televised card.

According to MMAWeekly.com StrikeForce CEO Scott Coker says that Cung Le has just got booked to be apart of another major motion picture and gave up his title in the process, but Le respects the decision of the organization to have Shields and Miller compete for the championship as well.

“I had a conversation with Cung and he has a lot of respect for Jake and Jason, and he’s got another movie coming up, so he’s asked me if he could step down, which we’re going to honor his request,” said Coker. “By no means does that mean he’s going to be retired, but he’s going to be unavailable for the next two months.”

Coker also added that when Le does make his return to the cage that he will put him in some big super fights once his movie career takes a pause.

“With Cung, every six weeks we’ll be checking back with him,” he continued. “Now that he’s not going to be our title holder, we’ll put him in some big super fights and continue his MMA career, but not have the pressure of defending his belt when he has movie opportunities.”

As far as Shields and Mayhem goes they were rumored to face off for the interim 185 pound title which also lead to the two fighters to throw pot shots at one another with Mayhem saying that he would “beat the piss” out of Shields and Shields replied that Mayhem “won’t sign the contract”, but now Mayhem who has confirmed this time on his Twitter once again that the fight is on and he doesn’t duck anybody.

“Ok bitches who said I was ducking- I duck NO ONE. Fighting Sheilds on November 7th. Official BOOM”

So now two bouts will be set for the CBS-StrikeForce event as the main event will feature former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko taking on the undefeated Brett ‘The Grim’ Rogers at a location and venue to still be determined. Stay tuned!
