Rashad Evans calls out Anderson Silva for a fight  | read this item

Rashad Evans has stated in the past that his momma does not want him fighting middleweight champion Anderson Silva, due to the fact he made Forrest Griffin run out of the Octagon back at UFC 101. With Quinton Rampage Jackson backing out of his fight against the other TUF coach at UFC 107 to film the “A-Team” movie, Rashad is left without a opponent for the December card.

Evans spoke on this weeks edition of MMA Live while answering viewer mail about a potential fight against Anderson Silva now that he needs a opponent.

“I think it’s a great idea,” Evans said. “I think its a great idea, as a matter of face put the fight together I’m ready for it.”

Evans then went into his impersonation of his Momma, warning him about the dangers of fighting the middleweight champion.

“You know my Momma is gonna say, Rashad I told you stop calling out Anderson Silva. Rashad, he made Forrest Griffin run back to Las Vegas, And he was in Philidelphia.”

Evans went on to convince his mother on the set of MMA Live that he can indeed fight and beat Anderson Silva.

“Hey Ma listen, I can do this I got this.”

Evans was kidding, but I do not doubt that he is up to the challenge if Silva is actually healthy at the moment. We heard earlier today from UFC president Dana White that Silva does in fact have a injury to his elbow and will be out until 2010.

If he is healthy a fight between the former Light Heavyweight champion and the middleweight champion would be perfect for the UFC’s early January card.
