Antonio “Big Foot” Silva was facing a permanent ban by the California State Athletic Commission if he fought during the time he was suspended for testing positive for a banned substance. However, Silva did fight for Sengoku in Japan and defeated Yoshihiro Nakao by TKO. Now Silva is making his return to Japan where he will fight Jim York at Sengoku, he is cleared to fight in the United States again and says his management team is already working on a deal with the UFC.
Our friends over at BrasilCombate.com.br caught up to “Pezao” and asked the heavyweight if he has any plans to sign with the UFC.
Just in case you would like to know how big Silva is and would match up against the UFC’s “Super sized” Heavyweight fighters like Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin, he was asked how much he weighs.
“My Weight is 276lbs before the fight, which corresponds to about 126kg. I’m very good at this weight since 2 years ago, when I arrived at ATT, weighed 136kg (300 pounds). Today, with Benkei beside me, I lowered my weight has increased my physical explosion and my cardio.”
“Big Foot” was also asked about his thoughts on the UFC’s heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
I have a few thoughts on this interview, the first; is that Silva would be a excellent addition to the UFC’s Heavyweight division. The second; is that at 276 pounds this guy is huge. He does not have much fat on his body and he could be a hard match up for a lot of fighters in the UFC. The third; the UFC is doing a good job removing all possible contenders for Fedor Emelianenko at StrikeForce and after Josh Barnett Silva is probably the best opponent Fedor could face if he defeats Brett Rogers.
I think Silva would do major damage in the UFC Heavyweight division, but we have to wait to see if he defeated Jim York last night.
Right now it is 1:33 a.m and Sengoku has not started yet, it will be interesting to see if Silva can defeat York and move on to bigger and better things in the UFC.
“The UFC has made a proposal, but I have yet another fight in Sengoku contract to fulfill…”
Which I can easily translate to:
“Currently, I’m on anabolic steroids..let me clean up and I’ll be good to go for the UFC”.
@shahal, Actually Sengoku tests for drugs. They usde the WADA thing which is what the olympics use.
@Lipton drift, Really? didn’t they sign Barnett? I thought Japanese organizations “encourage” drug usage!
@shahal, Well pride didn’t encourage drug use they just ignored it the way we should already I’m tired of hearing about how great a player is then he hits homeruns and is the man cause we are entertained but when we find out he did roids we bash them again for entertaiment
@Lipton drift, I know. I was kinda surprised too, but I looked it up. I don’t know how they got Josh though. That is a strange one. Maybe they tested him themselves & he was clean by then.
@Lipton drift, Actually I think they must have tested him, maybe a deal of how it’s gotta be a wada test or it’s not legit.
Look, I don’t believe Pezão uses steroids at all. I met the guy after Sengoku, in January, he’s not a sturdy guy, he’ll tall and large but hasn’t a lot of muscles.
Well, then. The Athletic commission MUST be wrong then, if your hormone-vision works as well as you say it does…Do you know how ‘cycling’ steroids WORKS?!?! You’d typically take them for a set period of time, then get off, presumably, before a piss test. When your body then doesn’t have that elevated level of testosterone, your muscles begin to go back to FAT. Making him tall and large, but not a lot of muscles.
By the way, I hear Major League Baseball could use someone with your considerable vision gifts.
@Rick Johnson, Dude the guy had cancerous tumors removed from his chest because his body produces too much of the growth hormone. The CSAC dropped the ball on his case and didn’t want to admit they were very, very wrong because of a “Defimation of character” lawsuit.
He’s not full of shit, steroids would literally kill him.
@Narcisist, it looks fishy to say i’m not listening to the CSAC’s verdict, and not only that, but rather than explaining adequately, he went to Japan, and ACTUALLY SAID he doesn’t care to fight in the US again, due to his health. THAT being said, he WILL NOT be in the UFC. End of story.
And honestly, I was refuting the above post that read “i met him and he didn’t SEEM that big”.
Rick, Silva deffo has giganicism. He also had surgery on his pituatry cuz it was pumping too much. & now I know that the pituatary makes test cuz a guy at the gym destroyed his from too much juice.
On another note, I read an article & saw picks of a guy in Russia who had a cancer on a gland in his brain. The docs in an operation accidentally did something durring an operation when he was 14 & triggered an over production of hgh( that won’t stop) & he has been growing non stop ever since. He is so huge that he has to pretty much bend right over in half just to fit in a room 6 ft high. & I saw him stand beside a cow & the cow was only as high as his waist. He is like 37 or so & is still growing. His name is Leonid Stadnik & he is 8′5″ & 440lbs. I just looked it up, he lives in Ukraine.
@Lipton drift, Holy shit he should fight Hong Man Choi
there’s not enough room for his head and tito’s head on north american soil.
to continue with the giant head jokes, you could hold a UFC event at the *insert huge stadium with retractable roof name here* and i doubt you’d be able to fit both tito and silva in the building… because their heads are so large.
@dale, let alone, the bathroom facilities…
andre the giant. I know. What i’m saying is, if it’s LEGIT, PROVE IT. Don’t just go overseas, saying you’ll never fight in the US b/c of faulty testing. The test did was it was supposed to do. I’m saying, stick to your guns and explain.
@Rick Johnson, Let me get this straight..
are you talking about Barnett or Silva?
