Every now and than a rumor pops up for a fight between two fighters that you know will have a big nasty knockout as the deciding factor. Today we have one of those great rumors to report as it seems a fight between hard hitting Brazilian Heavyweights Junior Dos Santos and Gabriel Gonzaga is in the works for UFC 108 on January 2, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

MMAWeekly.com is reporting a source has informed them of the potential heavyweight bout between Gonzaga and Dos Santos has been verbally agreed upon for the UFC 108: Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort middleweight title fight headlined event.

Junior Dos Santos (9-1) is coming off of a win by submission (Punch) over Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103, which extended his win streak to 3 straight fights in the UFC and 4 overall. He now has wins over Fabricio Werdum (TKO) at UFC 90, Stefan Struve (TKO) at UFC 95 and Mirko Cro Cop (Submission/punch) at UFC 103. With one more win Dos Santos could put himself into title contention, especially if he knocks out the dangerous Gonzaga.

Gabriel Gonzaga (11-4) got back on track after his TKO loss to Shane Carwin at UFC 96 with a controversial win over Chris Tuchscherer by TKO on the UFC 102 preliminary card. Gonzaga blasted Tuchscherer in the nuts with a kick in the opening moments of the fight causing him to need a full 5 minutes to recover. Tuchscherer was never the same and was greeted with a patented Gonzaga high kick to the head when he was finally able to resume the fight and was beaten down until the referee finally stopped the bout. Gonzaga will look to gain momentum as he looks for his second title shot of his career with a win over Dos Santos.

This of course conflicts with the rumor that Gonzaga would fight Antonio ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira at UFC 107, which was reported a few weeks ago. To be honest this fight makes a lot more sense for Gonzaga and Dos Santos at this point in their careers.

Gonzaga has a bit more strength and size I will say he wins this one by KO in the first with a kick

I see this ending badly for Junior he isn’t gonna beat Gonzaga, he has only beaten cans and a over the hill fighter so far
