Alves vows he will be the King after UFC 100

We were all pretty upset when we found out that Thiago Alves would be forced out of his UFC 107 rematch against Jon Fitch due to a undisclosed injury. Well it looks like Thiago never had any intention of missing out on the fight and was considering going into UFC 107 after losing out on 4 weeks of his training camp.

In a interview with Sherdog.com got the scoop from Thiago Alves trainer and American Top Team Gym owner Dan Lambert via text message yesterday.

“He wanted to fight regardless,” Lambert texted, after some confusion on Friday, when it was speculated Alves might remain in the bout after all. “You can’t miss 3-4 weeks training against a guy like Fitch to heal an injury. He’s out, but good to go after the first of the year.”

It’s a good thing Thiago was stopped from returning so quickly he could have made the injury a lot worse returning too fast. A second straight loss could have also set Thiago back in the welterweight divison as well, but that is besides the point.

We look forward to seeing Alves return in 2010 and get back on track in the welterweight division.
