With injuries eating their way through the UFC roster and Thiago Alves unable to face Jon Fitch at UFC 107 in December the organization was able to get a replacement for Fitch as Mike Pierce steps in for the American Top Team standout and look to make a big impression with the UFC brass by getting past the former Purdue University wrestling captain in the process.

According to MMAMania.com has agreed in priciple to step up and face Jon Fitch for the December 12 fight card as this will be the third change in opponents for the former welterweight top contender.

Mike Pierce (10-1) made his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 19 last month in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and picked up the biggest victory in his career by far when he took a unanimous decision victory over former WEC top welterweight contender Brock Larson and was originally scheduled to meet Fitch’s teammate at American Kickboxing Academy in Josh Koscheck at UFC Fight Night 20 in January of 2010, but Kos will now be apart of the UFC 106 co-main event bout with Anthony Johnson instead.

On the other hand Jon Fitch (19-3) was originally scheduled to face BJJ ace Ricardo Almeida at UFC 106, but due to an injury of the knee to Almeida his fight got bumped up to UFC 107 to face Alves, but now Pierce will get his opportunity to fight Fitch as he attempts to still get back in the welterweight title picture once again.

Hopefully, this will be the end of the injury bug for now as UFC fight cards are not coming any sooner in order for most of the fighters to avoid any further damage to illnesses or ailments.
