Last week the UFC 106 fight card took a big hit when current heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar had to withdraw from his main event title bout with the undefeated Shane Carwin due to a lingering illness as the bout has been rescheduled for UFC 108 in January of 2010. However, it may be pushed back once again as Lesnar is still a no show in the gym.

In an article from Yahoo!Sports Kevin Iole he has been told by Lesnar’s head trainer, Greg Nelson from the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy that the champ is still not healthy enough to get back to training in preparation for his next fight and insists that he cannot get a full workout due to the illness and has nothing to do otherwise.

“I’m not sure exactly what it is he has, mono or whatever, but I know that he was sick and couldn’t get a good, hard workout in,” Nelson said. “There’s a big difference between making an appearance and smiling and waving at a football game and going out and doing what he has to do in his training.”

Earlier in the month of October, Brock was at the Minnesota Vikings game in Minneapolis where he blew the team’s horn in their win over the Baltimore Ravens and it is being speculated that how is Lesnar feeling ill if he was at a football game recently before the news?

Nelson has also said that if Lesnar is still unable to train hard and at 100% percent health soon, then there is the possibility that the newly rescheduled fight for UFC 108 gets pushed into the month of February instead.

Hopefully, that is not the case for the UFC as BJ Penn will not be able to compete as he is defending his title a month earlier at UFC 107 in December and middleweight champion Anderson Silva and light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida are on the shelf until sometime after the month of January. Also it is also being said that UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre who suffered a groin injury will not be ready until at least the month of March, so it now depends on Lesnar to be fully recovered and back in training camp as soon as possible.

He should just check into the hospital so they can “fix” him. Then he can get back to training to Carwin.
