Fedor Emelianenko was able to show the American public what the “Big deal” is about the fighter who MMA fans have described as the best fighter in the sport today with his knockout win over Brett Rogers.

After Fedor clears up his injured nose and hand we should have a better idea of who he will face next, but for now we will do our best to speculate as to who he will face in his next fight.

Fabricio Werdum seems to be the best option, but there is one thing that he does not have going for him it is that he is not a big name and does not execute the most exciting game-plans when in the cage. Common sense will say Werdum will be his next opponent, but I would not be too surprised if someone else jumped in line before him.

Alistair Overeem has said that he intends to return to the U.S to fight in 2010, but we have heared that before and seen him pull out of a StrikeForce card with a injury only to pull out and fight in Japan for DREAM a few weeks later.  If Overeem does not defend his belt of sign a contract to do so by January, StrikeForce should strip him and move on. He has not shown any enthusiasm for fight for them and has pretty much made a mockery of their title. Werdum should face Fedor next, but if he does not Werdum is not a bad option.

Bobby Lashley? There is actually a small chance in hell, but not as as soon as he signs. Forcing Lashley into a fight against Fedor too soon would be good for ratings and bad for StrikeForce longterm. No one knows if Fedor will stay in the promotion passed the two fights he has left on his deal and Lashley would be the best heavyweight to build the division around due to his name recognition from his days in the WWE.

Other possibilities include Josh Barnett, but that is very far fetched due his trouble with the CSAC. Jeff Monson would be a good option, but has not signed with StrikeForce and is not a better option then Werdum or Overeem. Herschel Walker…please dear god no.
