Dana White says StrikeForce ratings are weak: “We’re pulling those numbers on Spike”

We knew StrikeForce’s ratings were not going to impress Dana White, he tells Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports that while Fedor vs Rogers ratings are solid they are on national television pulling in the same numbers the UFC does on Spike which is on cable.

Fedor entes“CBS made its biggest mistake partnering with a tiny, small show with a roster no one cares about,” said Dana White. “Just because you read on MMA.TV that someone is a superstar doesn’t make it true. This should prove that no one out there gives a [expletive] about Fedor.”
“We’re pulling those numbers on Spike,” White said. “I mean, how the [expletive] is what they did considered any good in any way, shape or form? What kind of numbers do you think we would pull with a live show on CBS? I’ll tell you. Huge. It would be significantly, significantly more than what they got with these idiots from Showtime.”

Scott Coker responded by saying that Dana White and the UFC should be happy about StrikeForce’s numbers on CBS because it helps the sport overall not mad.

“You’d think everyone [in the industry] would be happy because it’s great for the industry for everyone to be doing well,” responded Coker.

While the UFC attempted to counter program StrikeForce “Fedor vs Rogers” like they have done in the past to Affliction and EliteXC, it appears that the UFC “Main events” on Spike was not as successful in sabotaging Coker’s show. According to the report the UFC’s counter-program show was down almost 25% this time around.

The show was based off of 4 main event fights that aired on UFC pay-per-views including Randy Couture vs Antonio Minotauro Nogueria’s fight at UFC 102.

Makes me wonder if the UFC will go head to head with StrikeForce’s next CBS event with a live show. Do you think the UFC will take it that far, or would that be a bad move?

    Dana is wrong here I think Strikeforces ratings will be even bigger when Gina fights on tv especially if she fights Cyborg again that could do 7 million and break Kimbo’s record

    Kimbo vs someone

    that would KILL every other MMA event.

    Strikeforce is garbage, how can you even contest this?!?! Their BEST heavyweight isn’t even the champ. Hell, their best heavyweight needs to fight at LIGHT heavy. Their middleweight champ couldn’t strike his way out of a wet brown paper bag. Their “women’s” champion is a MAN, baby, YEAH! Their Light Heavy champ won the belt from…BABALU?!?!?! WTF… wasn’t he in the UFC WAAAAY back when…and he SUCKED THEN, too! why poke the beast, you KNOW the UFC is and will be the best organization, competition wise. I couldn’t care less about Strikeforce, everything about them screams WCW. Skanky dancers for ring entrances, check. Stupid and aggravating commentators, check. C level fighters, check. Idiot management, check. Gina is a better model than a fighter. And she’s NOT going to beat Cyborg. Not going to happen.

    Rick, ya gotta get off the crack and meth, or just the crack,or just the meth, either or. Fedor @ LHW when he just demolished, yet again, another dude the size of Lesnar, and made it yet again, look fairly easiy. Dude as fought mainly larger oppoents and destroyed them all. Not even gonna bother disputing hte rest of your post cuz, well, just cuz :p Did you even watch the Fedor/Rogers fight? Dude that was probably the loudest, single punch Ive heard in MMA. As for the MW champ, dude is actually a Welterweight fighting a class above, even though is striking does suck..

    i personally liked the free strikeforce fight card and all the fight results, they put on a successful show, and they will only keep gaining veiwers as their exposer keeps growing.
