This weekend it was believed that Fedor Emelianenko would need 4 to 6 months to recuperate from a broken nose and ligament damage to his hand, but it looks like his injuries are not as serious as previously speculated.
Sherdog.com got the scoop from Fedor’s M-1 Global representatives on a procedure he underwent a procedure to place two pins in his hand.
Instead, the fighter’s reps said two pins were placed in Emelianenko’s hand to correct the dislocation, and that the bone had not fractured nor broken through the skin as is possible with this type of injury. The 15-minute procedure was performed under general anesthesia at a Santa Monica hospital, said M-1 Global officials.”
We don’t know exactly when Fedor will be back to fight for StrikeForce, but all signs are pointing to a heavyweight title fight against Alistair Overeem some time next year.
