Last week a hit was made on the UFC 107 main card as young heavyweight standout Todd Duffee of American Top Team had pulled out of his next fight with the returning Paul Buentello due to injury leaving the promotion with two possible replacements to step up and take the fight as the UFC had fellow heavyweights Stefan Struve and Mike Russow, but the organization has made their choice and will be going with the 6′11″ Struve to take on ‘The Headhunter’ for the December 12 event.

The UFC made the announcement on the change in opponents for Buentello earlier today as Struve will be looking for his third straight victory inside the Octagon.

As for Paul Buentello (27-10), he makes his second tour of duty with the UFC as he has compiled a 12-2 record since his first UFC tour with his only two defeats coming in championship bouts to the likes of Andrei Arlovski in his last UFC bout and to Alistair Overeem under the StrikeForce banner.

Meanwhile Stefan Struve (18-3) was signed to a new four fight contract extension by the promotion sometime after his UFC 104 submission win over newcomer Chase Gormley which also earned him the “Submission of the Night” honors for the late October card in the process.

None of the two fighters are in contention for a title shot just yet, but the winner will move up in the right direction of the pecking order in the UFC’s heavyweight division.

UFC 107 will be held at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee and will feature a lightweight championship bout as BJ Penn defends his title for the third time against Diego Sanchez in the main event.
