We still do not have official word if and when Quinton Rampage Jackson will return to the UFC, but it appears that the former light heavyweight champion is still talking about potential fights.

In his latest interview Rampage spoke with Playboy.com about his relationship with Tito Ortiz and was asked if it was true he did not want to join the UFC earlier in his career because it would put him on track to fighting the former champion.

“Yeah, that has some truth to it. I was in Pride and trying to be champion over there, and Tito was champion in the UFC. We were the same weight class. We became friends by training with each other. We had the same coach, and I helped Tito prepare for a few fights and stuff.”

Rampage was also asked if he returned to the UFC in the future, would fight Tito Ortiz or would their friendship prevent the fight from happening?

tito_ortiz“If a fight came along for the belt. That’s probably the only way we would have ever fought-if we could have gotten a championship or something out of it, but not if we were just fighting for money. It’s kind of odd, because we both have a lot of the same friends and the same training partners. Unless it was for a big goal, I don’t think we would fight at all.”

Rampage was also asked about the night he won his light heavyweight title from Chuck Liddell in 2007, he was asked how hard he partied.

“I don’t even remember that celebration. I actually just met the guy who drove me home that night. He saw me and said, “Hey, you left your shirt in my car.” So evidently I lost my shirt, but I still had the belt. I didn’t forget the belt! I celebrated pretty hard. It took me about three days to sober up.”

It sounds to me like Rampage still wants to fight and I don’t see him staying retired for too much longer, especially since most of his recent blogs and interview he talks about potential fights.

We don’t know what the future will hold, but we imagine after the A-Team movie wraps up in early 2010 we will have a better idea of a possible return to the Octagon for Quinton Rampage Jackson.
