Aldo Cage 2

Jose Aldo will come into tonight’s fight against Mike Brown at WEC 44 focused on one thing and one thing only, the WEC featherweight title around the champion’s waiste. Aldo comes in on a 8 fight win streak and has not lose since 2005, 5 of those wins came in the WEC against top 145 pound fighters by way of knockout.

Most fighters would feel some anxiety coming into the biggest fight of their careers, but Aldo remains as cool as the other side of the pillow and says he is not nervous and has his eyes set on goal of becoming the WEC featherweight champion.

wec41_09_aldo_vs_swans0041“Everything in my life happens so fast for me,” Aldo said. “So I don’t feel any pressure for this fight. I might feel nervous before the fight, but that’s it. I want to bring the featherweight title back to Brazil. Mike Brown is an excellent fighter and a world champion. But I’m hungry to win the belt. It’s something I’ve wanted since I started this sport and I’m excited that the opportunity has arrived.”

Aldo is coming off of a :08 second flying knee knockout win over Cub Swanson at WEC 41, which was one of the best knockouts in MMA history. That would be the best performance of some fighter’s careers, but Aldo says he intends on putting on a better performance against Brown.

“The dream is coming true,” Aldo said. “I’ve wanted this shot for a long time, so I’m very focused on this fight. Mike Brown is a very good fighter and I respect him. But I’m going to be even better than I was last time.”

While most fans are already looking forward to a Mike Brown vs Urijah Faber trilogy, Aldo has a chance to play spoiler and start a impressiver reign of his own in the featherweight division.
