Jose Aldo is fresh off of his win at WEC 45 over Mike Brown to capture the (145 lbs.) featherweight title in impressive fashion, but that does not mean he wants to sit around and wait for good competition. In his latest interview the new champion says he is willing to drop down to 135 pounds or move up to 155 pounds for potential challenges.

Tatame.com spoke to Aldo on the phone after his win over Mike Brown at WEC 45, where he gave praise to the former champion and said he was ready to fight 10 rounds if need be.

Aldo punches Brown“Mike Brown is a though guy, but I believe that on my team there’s guys more though than ATT to train, so, when the fight started, I saw that his strength wasn’t what everyone used to say… I’ve trained to fight ten rounds, five was easy”

Aldo also warned those who believe that he does not have a ground game to continue believing that rumor so he can teach them a future lesson. He also said he is willing to fight at 135 pounds or 155 pounds to face the best challengers.

“just keep not believing and take me to the ground”, jokes. After the biggest conquest of his career, the Brazilian guarantees that his aim is to defend the title for a long time, but doesn’t say no to other challenges. “Depending on the money, everything is possible. I’m a professional and I’m here to fight, whatever it is, until 155 pounds, 145 pounds or 135 pounds. I can fight in all three categories, is just to pay for it”, finished.

While there is no confirmed opponent for Aldo after capturing the featherweight title, Dave Carmichael posted a rumor on Twitter that if Urijah Faber defeats Rafael Assuncao at WEC 46 in January he will be the new champion’s first title defense.

While we have not seen Aldo on the ground for too long, due to his great takedown defense we are sure if he meets Urijah Faber in the future we will see his ground game tested.

If Aldo is as good off his back as he is standing, Faber may be in for a long night.

Faber then move upto 155, after seeing the size of him compared to Brown, and how young he is still, dude is gonna grow in to his frame and be a BIG 155′r and a HUGE 145′r. Think him and Faber be FOTY if not FOTN.

dude Jose Aldo is a beast, his first title defense is going to be interesting. Faber does sound like a good challenge but i think Jose Also would KO him.
