Anthony Johnson was supposed to defeat Josh Koscheck at UFC 106 and move on to bigger and better things, but the veteran instead defeated “Rumble” in the second round of their fight. Johnson lost a point in the first round for landing a illegal knee to his downed opponent which also cost him momentum after he avoided  a takedown by Koscheck.

Johnson maintained that he did not hit Koscheck with the illegal knee that cost him a point in the first round. He claimed in a UFC 106 locker room post fight interview that his knee got Koscheck in the arm.

“I didn’t hit him in the head,” Johnson said “I hit him in the arm. So I don’t know why he would act like..I guess he was gassing? That’s the only thing I can think of or trying to find some excuse to complain, But I know I didn’t hit him in the head. I thought I timed it perfect, but I didn’t and that’s my fault.”

Johnson also said that Koscheck’s two eye pokes in the second round hurt his momentum. He believes that he should have taken more time out, because he feels he gave Koscheck time to recover from a shot he hurt him with.

“After him poking me in the eye it made a big difference and he got both eyes the second time. Cause when he swings he jabs with a open hand or what ever. The right didn’t even hit me it was a open palm strike, my eyes are burning like hell right now. I should of taken more time out. I shouldn’t have kept going, but I had some momentum going. Because I hurt him in the fight, I guess after that he needed that or some kind of excuse to recover. But it’s all good.”

What are your thoughts on Johnson’s comments, an excuse or does he have a valid argument?

Johnson is right on! The knee wasn’t even close to hitting his head, let alone the left eye that Koscheck was holding. If you are going to fake an injury at least hold the correct injured eye. Koscheck vs Hardy needs to be the next fight for Koscheck.

The two finger pokes were on purpose you could see Kos fingers extend in the instant replay so for those who say he won fair need to wake the fuck up he needed to cheat to win

These guys who complain about eye pokes need to understand and utilize their five minutes to recover. Koscheck should probably be warned before his fights about his open palm jab. He throws it quite often to set up his overhand right but his fingers do catch guys square in the eyes sometimes.
