The UFC 110 event is still expected to be heading into Sydney, Australia for the very first time in the promotion’s history and was scheduled to have former PRIDE champion Wanderlei Silva making his middleweight debut against Japanese Judoka Yoshihiro Akiyama as the card’s main event. But, it now appears that ‘The Axe Murderer’ will instead take on England’s own Michael Bisping as the new main event of the February 21, 2010 event.

According to Fighters Only both fighters have apparently agreed to the contest verbally, but bout agreements are yet to be put together and distributed at this time.

Following last weekend’s UFC 106 card in Las Vegas, Nevada it was UFC President Dana White that said the proposed Silva vs Akiyama bout may be replaced and now there is that possibility that it can happen.

Michael Bisping proved that he can redeem himself following his devastating KO loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 this past July by picking up a second round TKO of former PRIDE veteran Denis Kang earlier this month at UFC 105 in Manchester, England and has been wanting for a shot at Wanderlei Silva who was rumored at UFC 105, but was unable to do so after receiving facial surgery to remove some much needed scar tissue from up above his eyes.

Meanwhile Wanderlei Silva has lost his last two fights against the likes of Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 92 last December and a most recent unanimous decision setback against Rich Franklin at UFC 99 in June, but will be making his debut in a new weight class and will be looking to make a big impact at the expense of ‘The Count’ should the bout become a reality.

No further word has been mentioned of this potential match-up, but we will keep you posted once further reports have been made.
