Junior Dos Santos hopes he can get a new opponent soon: ““I face anyone”

Junior Dos Santos was looking to make a run into title contention with a win over Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 108, but Nepao’s staph infection and withdrawal from the card has prevented that from happening.
In a interview with Tatame.com Dos Santos said that he is still waiting for the UFC to call him and offer him a new opponent for the card, or for a future date.
“We’re waiting to see who they will put in Napão’s place, I don’t know for sure what does he have“, said. “I’m waiting an UFC proposal, but probably they will put someone else on his place. As the most of the heavyweights are sick or have scheduled fights, there are few fighters to put, but I believe that they will find someone (laughs)”
Dos Santos said that he would is waiting patiently, but would fight anyone at this point who could fill in for Gonzaga.
“I face anyone. I’m training for a long time and I’ll be ready“, guarantees. “It’s not good to wait to don’t lose the rhythm. I was on this fight and it’s not nice to take the focus off. I have one month to the fight and whoever it is, I prefer to fight“
Given the recent rash of injuries to fighters in the heavyweight division, it is going to be hard to find a solid opponent for Dos Santos. Most of the heavyweights at this point either are booked for future dates or have suffered a injury that would prevent them from taking the fight.
We will keep you up to date as soon as we find out who will replace Gonzaga at UFC 108, or if Dos Santos gets a new opponent for another date.
