In the next few weeks the StrikeForce “Evolution” event from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California will have the debut of several fighters coming to the promotion and one of those fighters will be former DREAM veteran Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza who also makes his debut in competing on U.S. soil as well as he takes on former UFC and Affliction vet Matt Lindland who is also a new addition to the StrikeForce roster and if you ask the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu phenom he is excited about the whole deal.
Jacare who is a multi-time BJJ world champion tells Sherdog.com that he made the jump to fight in the U.S. and fight for StrikeForce due to the fact that the decision was easy and the opportunity was something he could not let pass by.
The former DREAM middleweight contender who is known for his submission prowess says that he plans on utilizing more of his stand-up in his fight with Matt Lindland and adds that the matchup will be very exciting in the process.
Like Jacare, Matt Lindland will also be looking to make an impact in his StrikeForce debut as he also wants to get back on the winning track following a devastating KO loss to Vitor Belfort at Affliction “Day of Reckoning” in January. However, the winner of this fight could put themselves in the title picture to face Jake Shields at some point in 2010, but for Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza he says that being a great MMA fighter is what he wants to be.
Fan Question: Who wins between Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and Matt Lindland at StrikeForce “Evolution”?
