Update: Vitor Belfort vs Nate Marquardt fight at UFC 109 “Not happening”

Update: Jeremy Botter of Heavy.com is reporting that sources from the UFC have informed him this fight is “Not happening”, but we will keep you up to date if any new information comes our way.
We have heard two different reports on the condition of Anderson Silva as he recovers from elbow surgery. One report states that Silva is out of UFC 109, the other says he is still going to fight Vitor Belfort for the middleweight title.
The latest news comes from Fighters Only Magazine who is reporting that Silva is out at UFC 109 and a fight between Vitor Belfort and Nate Marquardt is in the works for the February 6, 2010 event.
It was no secret that Nate Marquardt and Dan Henderson did not agree with Vitor Belfort’s middleweight title shot. Silva also did not feel either of the three fighters deserved a shot a this belt.
Silva did not like that Belfort had trained with his teammates the Nogueira brothers and made it clear he did not want to face him. He also felt that Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt were not deserving of a title shot, because he beat both of them in previous fights. He also made it clear he wanted Henderson and Marquardt to fight in a elimination fight for a title shot.
It look like Silva will now have his wish, but Dan Henderson’s contract talks are not going any where with the UFC.

this burns me. nate would have been an amazing fight. both guys are lumberjack tough & nate & his power vs Vitor & his speed. This would have been the perfect test for Vitor. You guys should tweet dana.
