Dana White has made it no secret when negotiating with Dan Henderson, that he feels the former PRIDE champion asked for too much money and out-priced himself.

In a interview with Fanhouse.com, White responded to the news that Henderson had officially signed with StrikeForce.

dan_henderson_1239035c“He’s happy, but the reality is that I pushed him into signing that deal,” White told FanHouse. “I told people over the weekend that he’d sign within the next week. “I wanted him to s**t or get off the pot,” he said. “He was in this limbo forever, and he needed more motivation to make a decision.”

White also went on to say that Henderson was not worth the money he was asking for from the UFC, because he is not a major pay-per-view draw.

“For the money he wanted, he’s not worth it,” he said. “He’s not a big pay-per-view star, he’s not a big attraction, and he’s not going to sell out arenas. He wants way too much and he doesn’t bring anything to the table.”

He also went on to take a few shots at StrikeForce and said that they have too many fighters under contract and not enough events for them to fight on. He also went on to say that if he wanted to re-sign Dan Henderson, that he would have done it already.

“Nothing’s going to help Strikeforce,” he said. “They have too many fighters under contract and not enough events. They can’t keep some of their obligations to fighters already. Either they’re going to start breaching contracts or paying fighters not to fight. It’ll take a lot more than one guy to help them. Their whole business model is f****d. They’re coming after UFC? Yeah, OK.”

While White may not want to admit Henderson’s signing will help StrikeForce, that reality is that they now have two of the sports top most accomplished fighters of all time on their roster.

Henderson is the only fighter in the sport to hold two major titles at the same time and to win UFC, PRIDE and Rings tournaments. While Henderson may not sell one million pay-per-views on his own, he does bring legitimacy to the promotion and hardcore fan following.

As for the long term effect of Henderson’s signing, the only way we will be able to tell if the signing is a success is to wait and see.

guys we dont know if hendo was asking for certain amount of money.he could have been asking for his rights.
One is the compensation, but another was keeping his name and likeness rights, having access to intellectual property rights.ufc wants to own evrything so maybe they count that as money.and he would be a ppv draw he was on tuf and people may have bought ufc 100 to watch brock but they got to see hendo ko bisbing.
