This Saturday night for UFC 107 from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee there will be another exciting lightweight matchup besides the main event championship bout between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez as fellow contenders Kenny Florian and Clay Guida look to remain within striking distance for a shot down the line. However, for Kenny Florian, he says that he has changed himself in order to prepare for this fight with Clay Guida.

In a recent interview with TSN.ca up in Canada, Florian who is now working with his brother, Keith and Firas Zahabi along with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre says that he has re-invented himself for this fight and will have more to show following the loss to BJ Penn at UFC 101 this past August.

“My body definitely has changed. I definitely am at my biggest and at my leanest…. I feel very, very strong. I feel I’m at my quickest, and I’m in tremendous shape right now…. We’ve really gone back to the basics. I feel like it’s been a total rebirth, a total upgrade of what I’ve been doing…. I believe people are going to see even more of a change in the way that I look and fight from here on out. It’s going to be more of a change than what it was after the Sherk fight.”

Before the lightweight title loss to BJ Penn, Florian went on a previous six fight winning streak which also stemmed from a lightweight title loss to Sean Sherk back at UFC 64 in October of 2006 and plans on starting a new winning stretch with Clay Guida at UFC 107, but also knows what ‘The Carpenter’ brings to the table as far as how tough he can be and how much he can dictate the pace of a fight.

However, those are the type of fights Florian wants from here on out.

“He’s one of those guys who’s a survivor, and he’s very, very tough. I have my work cut out for me. This is a great fight for me to get back on track. He’s a very well-respected opponent, he’s one of the best out there and that’s who I want to fight. Those are only the people I want to fight.”
