Late last week more changes were made to the upcoming doomed UFC 108 fight card as lightweight Tyson Griffin had to withdraw from his matchup with Jim Miller due to injury as now Miller will be taking on former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk. However, Sherk’s opponent at UFC 108 Rafaello Oliveira is left out with a fight, but it seems the organization has found the ‘Tractor’ a replacement in newcomer John Gunderson.
According to MMAWeekly.com Oliveira’s head trainer, Mike Constantino confirmed the news of the bout.
John Gunderson holds a career MMA record of 22-6 and is currently on a three fight winning streak. A former veteran of the now defunct IFL promotion holds wins over Brian Caraway and Charles ‘Krazy Horse’ Bennett and will look to make a big impression in his Octagon debut on short notice.
Meanwhile Rafaello Oliveira is 9-2 overall and came up short in his debut at UFC 103 this past September in Dallas, Texas when he took a decision loss to fellow newcomer Nik Lentz and will need a win to remain on the UFC roster.
UFC 108 will still be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 2, 2010. Hopefully, no one else gets injured from this point on.
