This past Saturday night at UFC 107 former lightweight top contender Kenny Florian started his move back up to a third title shot when he finished off a very game Clay Guida at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. And now that the UFC will be headed to his hometown of Boston in Massachusetts next summer, ‘KenFlo’ is looking to get another fight in between that time in order to stay active which may possibly be at UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey in the month of March.
In a recent interview with FightHype.com Florian spoke about facing the lightweight division’s top fighters.
Florian asked for his UFC 107 fight with Clay Guida as Guida is always a tough test for anybody in the weight class including Diego Sanchez who squeaked out a decision win over ‘The Carpenter’ back in June to get his title shot at BJ Penn and with that said, Florian is looking to keep busy with another fight with a tough opponent as soon as the UFC 111 event in the month of March.
But, who will Kenny Florian fight next? Well, one possibility could be lightweight contender Frankie Edgar who is very well in the hunt along with Gray Maynard to compete for the title as Edgar will more than likely be competing in his backyard in the swamps of Jersey as that would be a big step in the right direction towards another title shot for Florian.
However, we will not know any of that at least until we go into the new year which is just a few weeks away, so until we know something more about it you will to.
Damn, that would be a great fight! I think Edgar should just get the title shot, but him against Florian is such a great fight…
this would be amazing. along with GSP v Hardy, Mir v Carwin, & Almeida v Alves this would be a Stacked card
