With New Year’s Eve just one week away an explosive middleweight fight has been in discussion as Dutch striking specialist Melvin Manhoef will be taking on former PRIDE Grand Prix winner Kazuo Misaki in another “DREAM vs Sengoku” bout at Dynamite 2009!! from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan to ring in the new year.
According to FiveOuncesofPain.com a source close to one of the fighters have told them the contest was set for the MMA/K-1 Kickboxing extravaganza.
Following this upcoming event Melvin Manhoef (23-6-1) who has finished over 90% percent of his fights by way of T/KO will be heading to compete in MMA competition in the U.S. as he has recently signed a deal with StrikeForce where he intends to get into more stand and bangs affairs with their stacked middleweight division.
As for Kazuo Misaki (22-9-2) he has spend most of they year 2009 on suspension stemming from a run-in with the police while he did not attempt to stop his car while he was driving and talking on his cell phone in which he threw out of the vehicle in the process, but in his two fights this year Misaki was submitted by Jorge Santiago in a middleweight title fight at Sengoku “No Ran 2009″ in early January and followed it up with a first round submission win over Kazuhiro Nakamura at Sengoku “Ninth Battle” in the month of August to now face the devastating Dutchman in Manhoef.
Should this be the case this is one matchup most fans would like to see as Dynamite 2009!! will air live in the U.S. in the process on HDNet.
