Last week the UFC revealed they are going to come to Boston, Mass. for the first time on August 28, 2010. UFC president Dana White is from Boston and wasted no time after legislation passed to announce on his Twitter that he was ready to bring a MMA event to Mass. this summer.

In a interview with ESPN.com an excited Dana White spoke about the UFC’s first show in Boston, Mass. and promised to bring the fight game back and kick ass.

“Boston’s got a big chip on its shoulder,” says White. “It’s a place that says, ‘We’re the best and we’re gonna kick everybody’s ass.’ It’s got that whole fighting vibe to it. And I love it.

“Boston has a great history as a fight town, but boxing has fizzled out from where it was,” White says. “I’m going to bring the fight game back to Boston,” says White. “I’m going to bring back the excitement of big fights, the energy of it.”

White also spoke about bringing the summer event to Boston Garden for a potential show, but did not confirm the location of the event.

“Everybody’s always telling me, ‘Hey, I bet you can’t wait till you can bring the UFC to Madison Square Garden,’ ” Dana says. “No, I want the [expletive] Boston Garden, OK?”

I am hopeful that New York will follow in the steps of Massachusetts, but every year it looks like the goal becomes a bigger obstacle for the UFC. At this point it seems ridiculous that New York state is in debt and struggling, but will not legalize a sport that would bring new jobs, help businesses and bring in millions of dollars.
