With less than a week to go for the big New Year’s Eve Dynamite!! 2009 fight card in Saitama, Japan another bout is close to becoming a done deal as former DREAM middleweight champion and current StrikeForce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi will be facing longtime veteran Gary Goodridge in a K-1 rules matchup.
According to MMAFighting.com Fight and Entertainment Group’s U.S. representative, Michael Kogan says on Friday night that the bout is very “close” to being finalized and would be under K-1 kickboxing rules.
And to get even more confirmation that the bout will go down current DREAM welterweight Jason High posted on his Twitter saying that the fight is in fact going down for Dynamite.
In last year’s Dynamite!! 2008 card, Mousasi also competed under K-1 kickboxing rules and quickly dispatched of K-1 veteran Musashi by scoring a first round KO for the win.
Meanwhile Gary Goodridge has lost his last four fights under MMA rules and will be looking to pick up a win anywhere he can get it.
Dynamite!! 2009 will be taking place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on New Year’s Eve December 31, and will be live on HDNet in the U.S.
Mousasi is going to end it in the 1st.
This is a ridiculous matchup…
