The big news this past weekend surrounding the UFC 108 event was the major signing of former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi who has been wanting to face tougher competition in the U.S. after fighting the majority of his career in his homeland of Japan. And although ‘The Fireball Kid’ has since been rumored to face Kenny Florian in his Octagon debut, there is another UFC lightweight who is asking for the opportunity as well.
In a recent blog post on The Underground Forums UFC lightweight Spencer Fisher says that he has always idolized the fighting style of Gomi and would be honored at having the chance to face him for his upcoming debut.
However, after snapping a previous three fight winning in a second round TKO loss at the hands of Joe Stevenson this past October at UFC 104 it is unlikely that the organization will not make that fight, or at least at the moment should Gomi lose in his Octagon debut.
I would say give it about a week or so until the UFC makes a final decision as to who Takanori Gomi faces in his debut, but a bout with Kenny Florian or Spencer Fisher would be great either way. Would you agree?
Might as well this would be a sick fight
Spencer sucks on the ground and Gomi sucks on the ground make the fight because if Florian gets him he won’t be worth the money the ufc is paying him
southpaw vs southpaw sounds is always exciting.
