The UFC is rumored to return to Canada on May 1, at the Montreal Belle Centre for the Lyoto Machida vs Mauricio Shogun Rua light heavyweight title rematch. So far there have not been too many rumors other then the main event bout, until today’s rumored return of the “Irish Hand grenade” Marcus Davis.
According to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com Davis has verbally agreed to face Canadian Jonathan Goulet for UFC 113, but also reported the bout agreements have not been signed and are expected to be signed shortly.
Marcus Davis (16-6) is currently riding a two fight losing streak, dropping a (split) decision to Dan Hardy at UFC 99. Then losing to Ben Saunders at UFC 106 by Knockout, after being dominated in the clinch and peppered with knees.
Jonathan Goulet (22-10) lost his last fight in the UFC, after being knocked out by Mike Swick at the “Fight for the Troops”event last year. Goulet overall has gone 2-1 in his last three bouts and will be looking for his second consecutive win in front of his fellow Canadians. Goulet defeated n Kuniyoshi Hironaka by TKO at UFC 83, back in April of 2008.
This fight will be very important for the careers of both fighters, who will be looking to get out of their current slides. Goulet will be looking to end his almost permanent spot on the preliminary cards and Davis will be looking to end his two fight losing streak.
I expect more fight rumors to come throughout the next few days, so stay on URDirt.com for the latest fight talk.
Eager to see Marcus get back to the right path.
