Update #2: Steve Cofield of CageWriter.com has shed some more light on the situation and is also shedding some light on the situation and is reporting that the UFC may have anticipated moving this card in advance.

“Sources with the UFC have indicated every Saturday in May at the Bell Centre was reserved by the promotion just in case Manny Pacquiao-Mayweather landed on May 1. Mosley and Mayweather isn’t quite as big but it is a mega-fight and would certainly put a dent in the UFC pay-per-views hopes if the cards went head-to-head. May 8 or 15 would the logical choices with the UFC slated to be in Las Vegas at the end of the month with UFC 114. Lyoto Machida’s twitter account also gave the heads up that there may be a date change for UFC 113.”

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact Andre Berto has pulled out of his fight against “Sugar” Shane Mosley in January, which would set up a bout between Mosley and Mayweather.

UPDATE: Unless this is the greatest Lyoto Machida stalker in history, this is his official Twitter. I also think I know the reason the fight may change dates, Floyd Mayweather is rumored to be taking on “Sugar” Shane Mosley on May 1, as well on pay-per-view.

There is a outside chance UFC 113 could change dates, not just the Machida vs Shogun event. Keep in mind this is speculative at the moment, but I will keep you updated throughout the day and let you know what I dig up.

“My next fight against shogun is scheduled for May 1st, but there is a possibility to change. If it does I’ll let you know through here.”

The quote you see above comes from a Lyoto Machida Twitter account, that could or not be the real thing. Normally stars accounts are verified, but with fighters it tends to be a lot different.  Some are confirmed and some are total bullshit, so I will take this with a grain of salt before saying that this is a official statement.

This account has the same logo as the official Machida website, but anyone can pretty much take that off and plug it into Twitter. The picture above is also from the Twitter account as well, but like I said anyone can take a picture of Silva and Machida. So we do not know if this is really his account.

The only way I can see this being true is if Machida’s hand has not recovered on time and he needs additional surgery or rehab before returning to the Octagon.

I will keep you posted as I am sure someone will contact Ed Soares and get to the bottom of this fast, because if it is true it is big.
