While preparing for an upcoming matchup at Bitetti Combat 6 event in Brazil, former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho gives his take on the upcoming UFC 112 main event in Abu Dhabi between 185 pound kingpin Anderson Silva and fellow countryman Vitor Belfort and despite being good friends with ‘The Spider’, Filho picks ‘The Phenom’ to become champion.
In an exclusive interview with Tatame.com Filho says that Silva by far is the best in the category, but when completely focused Belfort can beat anybody.
“Vitor trained and with a good head is almost unbeatable. He punches very well, he’s explosive and he’s proving it. I know him since he was a kid on Carlson’s time. He’s talented and dangerous. He’s complete, with a good Wrestling, boxing, good Jiu-Jitsu to MMA… With a good mind I believe on him on any category, against anyone. Anderson is amazing, I don’t even have what to say about him, but, honestly, I think if they are equal, Vitor takes it. Vitor is very dangerous, very fast. I think he beats not only Anderson, but anyone. With his kids coming, he’s more focused. I look at him and I see that he has that tiger eye again.”
Filho makes sense here as Vitor has been riding a five fight winning streak and has recently defeated the like of Matt Lindland and Rich Franklin in 2009 and should he continue to remain on the right path it is a very big possibility to beat Anderson Silva, but Silva is always looking to be more improved and just as focused, but we will have to see come April 10.
