In a interview with Tatame.com.br that URDirt.com translated, Team Black house trainer Daniel Wornin spoke about the upcoming rematch at UFC 113 between brazilian light heavyweight fighters Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Shogun Rua.

Wornin said he found their first fight to be very even and did not give either fighter the victory when asked who he felt won at UFC 104.

“I found this fight was very balanced and very focused, but the Shogun kicked a lot and set aside the punches of Lyoto. I would draw call it a draw, it was very difficult to define this fight. Now in the second fight, both will arrive with everything, it will be very interesting. I loved the first fight, the coach of Shogun is to be congratulated, because the tactics they did was very good and  Lyoto’s coach did a good job”

When asked if Shogun found holes in Lyoto Machida’s game, he responded by saying Machida could easily find holes in Shogun’s game for their rematch at UFC 113.

“I think you will find there are always holes and Lyoto can also find holes, but I do not think that is what will define the struggle. But psychologically, because it will be a lot of pressure for both fighters. I have a tactic for both, but I will not speak, a secret (laughs).”

I agree with Wornin’s statement that the rematch will probably be a psychological battle.

Shogun comes into the fight knowing in his heart he should be the UFC light heavyweight champion and could use that momentum to lead him to victory.

On the other hand I feel Machida could also use the fact he struggled, yet he still managed to win while having a bad performance as a plus. Machida will also want to prove critics wrong who felt he should not be undefeated and use that as momentum coming into this fight.

Either way it’s going to make for a exciting battle and I expect a different game of Chess this time around.
