Joseph Benavidez does not need any extra motivation when he steps into the cage against Miguel Torres at WEC 47 this weekend, a win pretty much guarantees a shot at the winner of the Dominick Cruz vs Brian Bowles title fight in the main event.
In a interview with UFC.com, Benavidez said he is also motivated by taking Torres status as a fighter.
“I don’t really look at it too much as disrespect,” Benavidez said. “That’s just the way things go when someone’s done something like he has in the sport. People are going to be excited to see him come back and want to talk to him more, you know?
“I’ve got to pave my way, just like anyone else did, and get people excited about me fighting. He. was a world champion so that’s expected … It just motivates me, if anything, to know that everything that he’s getting can be mine if I go out there and do my thing.” anything, to know that everything that he’s getting can be mine if I go out there and do my thing.”
Benavidez has every tool to pull off the upset, he has good cardio, wrestling and heavy hands that come straight down the pipe.
I am looking forward to this bout more then any on this solid card, it should be very competitive and action packed.
