Stephan Bonnar’s appeal to the NSW to have the official decision of his loss to Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 110 overturned has been denied. After an accidental head-butt ended his night, the referee called the fight as a TKO victory for Krzysztof Soszynski, Bonnar appealed the decision stating the fight should have been ruled a “No contest.”
MMAJunkie.com was informed by the NSW this morning via E-mail of their decision to uphold their final verdict.
“A review was held … and the Combat Sports Authority of NSW did not seek to interfere with the referee’s decision,” wrote Craig Waller Executive Director of the Combat Sports Executive Director of the Combat Sports Authority of New South Wales.
Bonnar also spoke about the NSW’s Verdict, but is also happy the UFC may give him another shot at Soszynski this June at the Ultimate Fighter season 11 finale.
“It was obviously a battle between me and [the NSW commission], but as far as the fight, Dana White’s a fair guy, and I’m pretty confident we’l have that rematch soon,” Bonnar told MMAjunkie.com.
We know commissions and athletic boards rarely admit fault their final decision may be wrong, but at least the UFC will give their fighters a chance to finish what they started.
