Earlier this month top bantamweight contender Scott Jorgensen won very quickly and impressively overt Chad George at WEC 47 from Columbus, Ohio and said that he wants to fight every month or any given time. Well it now appears that he got his wish as fellow bantamweight Damacio Page who was scheduled to face Antonio Banuelos on the WEC 48 pay-per-view event in Sacramento, California gets the call to step and also receives the opportunity to avenge a loss to Banuelos in the process.
WEC officials confirmed the change in the bout as Jorgensen looks to reel off his fourth straight victory and get one step closer towards a shot at the 135 pound title.
Back in June at WEC 41 which also took place in Sacramento at the ARCO Arena had both Jorgensen and Banuelos engaged in one hell of a fight which ended in some controversy as Banuelos gained the split decision for the victory as Jorgensen felt he was robbed, so WEC General Manager Reed Harris felt the need to put this match-up together once again.
The rematch will be taking place on the evening’s main card which is headed by two title fights with featherweight champion Jose Aldo defending against longtime former champ Urijah Faber and the lightweight title rematch with new champ Ben Henderson taking on Donald Cerrone as the co-main events.
